1. About these terms

These terms apply when you enquire about or book a survival course, bushcraft session, school activity or residential, Forest School session, corporate experience, birthday party, private group experience or event with South West Survival Ltd, based in Plymouth, Devon. They also apply to purchases from our online shop. Some activities, events or school bookings may have additional terms, which we will give you before you book. SOUTH WEST SURVIVAL LTD is registered in England and Wales under company number 12209223. Registered office: 7 Copthorne Gardens, Plymouth, Devon, England, PL9 9JR.

2. Enquiries and bookings

Sending an enquiry does not create a booking. A booking is confirmed only when we confirm it to you in writing or through our online booking or ticketing system. Prices, what is included, dates and locations are as set out in your booking confirmation or quote. Deposits vary depending on the booking. We will confirm the deposit and payment arrangements for your booking before it is accepted.

3. Cancellations, changes and refunds

If you need to cancel or change a booking, please contact us as soon as possible. We consider each cancellation request individually, taking account of the terms agreed for your booking, any costs we have already incurred, how much notice you give and your statutory rights.

We may need to change or cancel an activity because of severe weather, safety concerns, instructor illness or other circumstances outside our control. If this happens we will contact you as soon as possible to discuss the options. If we cancel an activity, we will offer you a mutually agreed alternative date or a full refund of the amounts you have paid for the cancelled activity. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected.

4. Participation, health and safety

Outdoor survival and bushcraft activities involve physical activity, uneven ground, changing weather, tools, fire and other natural hazards. We plan activities with safety in mind and our instructors will brief you before you start. Supervised archery and air rifle shooting may be included where appropriate. To help us keep everyone safe, participants must:

- tell us before the activity about any medical conditions, injuries, allergies, dietary needs, accessibility or additional needs that may affect participation;

- complete any health or participation forms we ask for;

- follow the instructions of our instructors at all times, including safety briefings and rules for using tools, fire, archery and air rifles where offered;

- wear suitable clothing and footwear and bring any kit we ask you to bring; and

- not take part under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Our instructors may stop or change an activity, or ask a participant not to continue, if they believe it is unsafe to carry on.

5. Children, schools and groups

Children aged seven and over are welcome on suitable activities. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a paying adult unless attending as part of an organised school or youth programme. For school and group bookings, the school or organiser remains responsible for the supervision, behaviour and welfare of their pupils or members alongside our instructors, and for providing the staffing levels agreed at booking.

6. Instructors, safeguarding and insurance

Our instructors hold appropriate DBS checks and South West Survival carries relevant insurance for the activities we deliver.

7. Responsibility

Please look after your personal belongings during activities. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law. Your statutory rights are not affected.

8. Photographs and video

We may take photographs and video during activities and use them on our website and social media. If you would prefer that you or your child are not photographed, please tell us before the activity, or record your preference on our health waiver. To ask for an image to be removed, contact us. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle images.

9. Online shop and digital downloads

Product details and prices are shown in our online shop. Delivery charges are shown at checkout. If there is a problem with your order or a digital download, contact us and we will put it right in line with your statutory rights. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

10. Your information, contact and law

We handle your personal information as described in our Privacy Policy. If you have a question or concern about a booking, please contact us at southwestsurvival@outlook.com or on 07830 497130. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
